Tiny Voices
Tiny Voices was an early years music programme run over 16 weeks in two early childhood settings in Dublin 8 and Dublin 10. Led by Common Ground, the project involved two separate musical approaches, put into practice by each musician in collaboration with childcare practitioners in the pre-school services in The Base, Ballyfermot and Goldenbridge Day Nursery, Inchicore.
The programme was researched and documented in association with St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra and UCC’s music department. The lead researcher was Mairead Berrill and she was supported by the Early Years Advisory Group and a Steering Research Group.
The main aims of the research was to look at the impact of the music programme on practitioners practice, how the programme was delivered in each child care setting and its integration into the Aistear framework, and to inform policy development and learning in the childcare and arts sector.
The research was launched in April 2013 with a co-publication by Common Ground and St Patricks College.
