On December 16th 2017 at 3pm the public are invited to Richmond Barracks for the opening of ‘The Ulster Garden Project’ – a temporary installation of a participatory public artwork by Dutch/Greek visual artist Theodora Kotsi-Felici.

The project, which began in April 2016 and developed over a 16 month period, is an exchange between Theodora, Learmount Community Development Project Co Derry and the Rialto Men’s Gardening and Social Group in St Andrew’s community Centre Dublin 8.

‘The Ulster Garden Project’ came from Theodora’s interest in cultivation, the effect of the famine and migration. It emphasises the peace process and the importance of collective power to achieve that. The artwork consists of a series of plywood and aluminium letters that state, ‘THIS PLACE IS FOR THE CULTIVATION OF PEACE’.  The letters are illuminated by ‘potato’ batteries planted and cultivated in Dublin and Derry.

‘The Ulster Garden Project’ can be viewed in Richmond Barracks from December 16th to 21st. Check Richmond Barracks website for opening hours.
