Pat Curran
Pat Curran is a painter.
Pat Curran’s paintings reflect how inner city Dublin life is changing and how it contributes to a wider conversation about class, social justice and access to artistic expression.
Since 2016 Pat’s studio based practice developed to engage with the public through conversation. He invited residents from the flat complexes of Dolphin House, Fatima Mansions and St Michael’s Estate to share images of their community through his open studio practice. This practice created an exchange of conversation between him and the public. Local people spoke with Pat about their lived experience and this is reflected in his paintings.
Pat’s first solo exhibition HOME was in Pallas Projects in September 2021. In 2019 Pat exhibited in Rua Red’s Winter Open and CITIZEN ARTIST at Kilmainham Courthouse. Pat’s works are also housed in the Office of Public Works Collection – Dept. of Taoiseach and the Irish Centre for Human Rights, NUI Galway.
Pat’s residency at The Lodge ran from 2019 until June 2022.
