Manar Al Shouha grew up in Damascus, Syria and completed a Degree in Fine Art Painting from Damascus University in 2016.   Manar has a studio based painting practice and arrived in Ireland in December 2021. 

Since June 2022 Common Ground has supported Manar with a studio space in The Lodge.  During this time Manar prepared for her first exhibition in Ireland –  Citizens? with Belinda Loftus in Rathfarnham Castle supported by Centre for Creative Practice and MASI. She has exhibited in the group show ‘The Tyranny of Ambition’ in the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda. In 2023 Manar was selected for the RHA Annual 193rd Show where she was shortlisted for the Homan Potterton award and Hennessy Craig Award. Manar was also exhibited at Cashel Arts Festival 2023.

Manar has shown in a wide range of exhibitions outside of Ireland from 2015 – 2021, this includes collective group shows from 2018 to 2021 in the National Centre for Visual Arts, Samer Kozah Gallery and the Al Hekmieh Art Gallery, Damascus, Syria.  In 2019 she was invited to show as part of Beirut Art Week in Lebanon. 

Manar’s work is in private collections in Ireland and Syria and the collection of the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda.
