‘Utilising the Arts to combat Disadvantage’

The Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht has published its report, ‘Utilising the Arts to combat Disadvantage’. The work on this report began in 2012 when arts organisations from across Ireland, including Common Ground, were invited to give evidence to the Joint Commitee.

The report, which has 19 recommendations, in particular recommends that the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht undertake a comprehensive study on the impact of arts funding in combating disadvantage and promoting inclusion, ahead of any major policy changes.

The Joint Committee will be calling on the new Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, TD, to study the report and meet with them to discuss the 19 recommendations.
