Description

This programme was formerly known as People Blocks and Art. Over the years common ground has developed in parallel with the community, playing an important role in the regeneration to date and building up trusted, strong working relationships within the community.

As the community with which we work is undergoing massive regeneration with the redevelopment of the former flats complexes of Fatima Mansions and St. Michael’s Estate and with our long established working relationship in Dolphin House, we looked to change the programme name in 2008 to reflect the complexity and multiplicity of those working relationships and partnerships.

Common Ground’s strategic development programme, now named, Cultural Partnerships and Processes, is the programme through which we explore, develop and create relationships with adults, community groups and other strategic partners and as a result advocate and resource a variety of arts programme development with those key partners, adults and community groups.

Current Projects

Creating Relationships
  • St Michael’s Estate Inchicore
  • Regeneration Board
In 2007 Common Ground accepted an invitation to join St Michaels Regeneration Board’s Cultural Life sub group. Over the next few months Common Ground will support the development of the ‘Hoarding Project’ as part of the demolition process of St Michaels Estate. This project will involve and include a wide variety of residents both children young people and adults in and surrounding St Michael’s Estate, including Tyrone Place, Bulfin Court, St Michael’s Estate and Emmet Crescent.

  • Family Resource Centre St Michael’s estate

  • In 2008 Common Ground is piloting a new collaborative working relationship with women from the Family Resource Centre and the photographer Aislinn Delaney.

    Developing Relationships
  • Dolphin House & Common Ground
  • For the last six years common ground has played an important role in supporting the community of Dolphin House to participate and engage in a wide variety of arts and cultural projects, such as the yearly Dolphin House Summer Regeneration Festival, the ongoing development of the We’re from the Barn Drama Group and the photography project ‘A Moment in Time’. In 2008 we will evaluate the work that has developed over the years, with us, community participants, artists and Dolphin House Community Development Association. Our aim during the process is to plan with the community interim Arts and Cultural measures that continue to support community participation. Common Ground is a member of the Dolphin Voluntary Groups Forum.
